PROPRIOCEPTION

Try this stand on one leg, with your eyes closed, head tilted back, and try to touch your nose with your finger. What happens? You probably wobbled and maybe even fell over. The ability to balance with coordination is called proprioception. Proprioception helps your body adjust to the surrounding surfaces better. The better your proprioception is the less chance you have to hurt your self. To help your self play better here are some exercises that you could do at home to help increase your proprioception.

  • Stand on one foot for a minute then stand on the other foot for a minute every night.
  • Once that becomes easy then do the same but with your eyes closed.
  • Then try standing on your bed or something squishy like a bosu ball.
  • Balancing on the voodoo board is a great exercise to do since it moves back and forth making it hard to balance.

ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO STRENGTHEN BOTH ANKLES!!!
